Yesterday it was announced legendary car builder, Carroll Shelby passed away at the age of 89. Shelby was a name that was indistinguishable in the car scene. His designs for cars will forever go down in history for being some of the craziest, fastest rides you can get.
The Dodge Neon SRT-4 is a popular platform because it’s relatively easy to make big power. However, as with any vehicle, making it a complete package of go and show is no easy challenge. A balance between function and form is key.
One of our very own, Cody Staifer, did just that and has a very nice street SRT-4 to show for it! The performance setup he put together netted him north of 400 horsepower during a recent dyno outing, all while sporting some proper appearance modifications. This bright red beauty can be spotted from a mile away with its slammed, stanced out look followed by its unique exhaust note. This stance wasn’t achieved easily but a combination of coilovers, spacers and stretched tires on 18″ gold wheels helped make it possible. The exterior is finished off with a carbon hood and trunk to really pull the whole look together.
Well done Cody. And whether this little Neon has something to prove or not, we think it will make for an interesting upcoming season! Keep an eye out for it rolling the streets of northwest Ohio and throughout the Midwest during the 2012 car show season.
With this post, we say goodbye to 2011 and welcome the upcoming season. See you all in 2012!
