Royal Purple oil…and filter?

Posted by Chris Aldrich on January 25, 2011

Royal Purple has been a great sponsor of CYL for a number of years and our members have been lucky enough to use the full line. Their products aren’t just for us, though. They probably have something for your ride, too!

We all know that Royal Purple carries just about any performance lubricant you need to take your vehicle to the next level. But recently they added an ultra-premium oil filter to their line-up of great products. These oil filters provide superior particle removal and high-performance, optimized flow characteristics for maximum performance and longer filter life.

Each filter features:

  • 100% synthetic micro-glass media for superior particle removal with 99% filtration efficiency at 25 microns.
  • A high-performance silicone anti-drain back valve that prevents dry starts, even in extreme conditions.
  • An extra heavy duty rubber base gasket that ensures a leak-free seal.
  • Ultra-strength filter housing endures higher burst strength than conventional filters.

You can learn more about Royal Purple filters in this segment from HorsePower on Powerblock:

Have an Android Phone and no boost gauge? Check this out!

Posted by Chris Aldrich on January 10, 2011

We wanted to share with you a great Android app we came across called Torque. Torque is an OBD2 performance and diagnostic tool for any device that runs the Android operating system. It will allow you to access the many sensors within your vehicles Engine Management System, as well as allow you to view and clear trouble codes.

As auto enthusiasts, this is a great tool that you’ll always have on you. No matter if your at the drag strip doing some tuning or at the grocery store and you throw a CEL, you’ll always know exactly what’s going on with your vehicle.

All you need to do is (1) download the App from the Android Market and (2) buy an OBD2 adapter. An example can be found here. For additional info and accessibility check out Torques’ website and forum.

Here are some screenshots of the App:
